“Mahasiswa, Demokrasi dan Demonstrasi”

Hereby I write an article officially in my opinion dengan tidak ditunggangi partai politik manapun maupun kelompok politik tertentu!

Demokrasi dan demonstrasi sudah menjadi bagian dari negeri ini sejak masa reformasi berlangsung. Disini, saya tidak akan memaparkan apa sih itu demokrasi atau demonstrasi. Kita langsung ambil contoh kasus aja deh! Pada hari ini 27 Maret 2012, telah terjadi demonstrasi besar-besaran akibat kebijakan pemerintah mengenai kenaikan harga BBM (bahan bakar minyak). BBM sangat berkaitan erat dengan sembako (Sembilan bahan pokok), maka dari itu ibu-ibu alias kaum ibu lah yang otomatis menjerit kalo harga-harga melunjak naik. Alasannya? Ya karena merekalah yg mengatur keuangan Negara, ups.. maksudnya keuangan keluarga. Kalo harga-harga pada melunjak, ibu-ibu kudu pinter muter uang dong.. Terus… kita musti gimana dong kalo harga BBM naik?? Proteskah? Memaki-maki pemerintah kah? Atau memberikan saran dan kritik yang membangun bagi sang pembuat kebijakan?? Hmm.. pastinya option yang terakhir yang paling oke dong ya, itu juga kalo kita bener2 paham permasalahannya dan pendapat kita bisa didenger, sukur2 diimplementasikan.

Well, honestly saya nggak begitu ngerti ekonomi tapi menurut baca-baca, kenaikan BBM ini dipicu oleh kenaikan harga minyak dunia yang tidak bisa dibendung oleh pemerintah sehingga alokasi subsidi BBM dialihkan untuk pengeluaran lain. Kabar BBM naik memang memicu sejumlah pihak yang merasa dirugikan dengan kenaikan harga BBM tsb, pihak-pihak ini merasa pro-rakyat dan menurut mereka rakyat akan merugi banget, bakal kesusahaaaan banget alias RAKYAT AKAN JATUH MISKIN kalo BBM naik. Well, that’s opinion and they have right, yes it is. Kabarnya sih, yang paling pro-rakyat itu kelompok “Mahasiswa”, kelompok ini dikenal idealis dan memiliki semangat yang membuncah untuk membela yang lemah dan membasmi kejahatan sejak jaman reformasi karena mereka lah yang dulu juga membantu bangsa ini untuk keluar dari masa-masa “penjajahan” sebuah rezim. Mahasiswa dikenal suka berdemonstrasi, mengeluarkan segala unek-uneknya ke jalanan demi membela rakyat. As we know juga, Media suka memblow up para “Mahasiswa” yang berdemonstrasi ini membuat macet jalanan, merusak sarana dan prasarana umum, bentrok dengan polisi sehingga terjadi kerusuhan dan lain sebagainya..

And what I am currently focus on this article is saya tidak menentang cara para mahasiswa berdemonstrasi karena ini adalah salah satu cara untuk membentuk opini publik. Only my opinion, please bold this.

Just wanna share my experience in joining demonstration, before we –students- do the demonstration, we have a forum that assess what we are going to do is right or not. The forum called “Student Executive Board a.k.a Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa” and it is consist of many universities all over Indonesia. Before we do demonstration, the leaders from each university do meeting to find out proper solution for our country, to find out what we are suggest to the government as an intellectual, as a student. And then, after we conclude our criticism and suggestions, we try hard to deliver it to the government, but… if they deny or do not care at all about our suggestion, they do not listen to though, we are propose to do demonstration in order to build public opinion. Why?? It is because if we do demonstration in the street, mass media will spread the news about us and our suggestion so that it will make easier for government knowing our criticism. That’s what really happen! BUT….

Demonstration on the street not only done by official student executive board from reputable universities who really have strong passion to build a good common in our country but also a lot of unknown people that might involve in bad politic so that they may lead demonstration into a riot.  

It is purely my sincere opinion.

Somehow, when the official students do peaceful speech or any attraction to get people’s attention, in the same place, not far from ours, there are some groups that burn tyre, make noise and throw away their garbage EASILY on the street. And if they are also the students but not the member of our official board, mass media must be blow up the bad one than the peaceful one! IT HAPPEN, really! Sincerely I write this by my own experience, by my own sight. And the mass media do not care at all about our speech even though we talk so loudly in order to get the attention and very hopeful that they will spread our ideas.

On the other side, sometime as a follower I do not like the bad speech that the leaders do. Somehow, they talk bad about president and government in their speech. Well, even though that might be right but we are not suppose to do that! They are still our leaders –I mean government leaders- and we do not know what they have done, what they are thinking and comparing to what we have done, it has not been certain that we have done better than the government leaders had done.

Belum tentu orang-orang yang kita seru suruh “turun” atau orang-orang yang kita tuntut itu lebih baik dari kita! Dan belum tentu juga kalo kita nurunin presiden akan jadi lebih baik. Siapa yang mau gantiin?? Elokah? Sanggup? Yakin?? So, Behave your mouth and watch your attitude! Demo sih boleh-boleh aja, tertib oke, provokatif boleh, tapi mbok ya pidatonya nggak usah ngejelek-jelekin orang lain.. I had cried just because of this! Yes, this is the truth! So, young people, you are talented enough to do much useful activities for our beloved country and I don’t deny our effort to critic government’s policy because we still should have to do.. but please man… think about it seriously.. terutama the way of speech, people see this! And for the media and all people who think bad about “mahasiswa pendemo”, nggak semua seperti itu pak, bu, mbak, mas… yang merusak itu benar-benar perusak dan yang berjuang pasti benar-benar berjuang. So, don’t be narrow-minded and don’t generalize all the things.. intinya mah ya, kita semua punya kekurangan masing-masing, disitulah kita harus saling melengkapi. Kalo pemerintah salah mbok ya diingetin dengan cara baik-baik, kalo mahasiswa ngeyel mbok ya diarahin dan jangan juga menganggap rendah terhadap apa yang sudah orang lain lakukan karena belum tentu kita lebih baik dari mereka. I’m not pro-government nor opposition, I’m netral so just let be the best citizen, peace J
