At the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, people in Gaza Strip couldn’t feel the same thing. They were very scared because of the invasion to their beloved country, Palestine. When every people in the world saw the sparkling of fireworks, people in Gaza Strip saw the fiery flames. While every people in the world heard the voice of New Year’s music, people in Gaza Strip heard the voice of the rockets and rudals. Day by day, mass genocide became more brutal, women and children victims increased. The world situation is getting worse, UNO (United Nation Organization) was demanded to take a quick step to conduct the peace between them.
The history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict covers from the end of the nineteenth century to the present day. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict centers on conflicting, mutually exclusive claims to the area called Palestine by the Palestinians and the Land of Israel by Israelis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli-Palestinian_conflict). The State of Israel as a Jewish country begins from the development of Zionism in Germany. The word of Zionism was published for the first time by a Jewish socialist named Marthias Acher (1864-1937) (Anwar 2009).
Basically, world societies cursed the aggression of Israel to Palestine. People who care about this case mostly come from young people. Youth have a special responsibility to develop a global perspective and value based on such qualities as love, truthfulness, kindness, justice and esteem for all members of humanity.
Indonesia has close relationship with the Palestine. It has been started since the colonization of the Dutch in Indonesia. Palestine is one of the early countries that supported the Indonesian independence struggle. Palestine was becoming an important country that confesses Indonesian independence at the first time. Therefore, elder Indonesian youth was very appreciate of their support.
Whereas Indonesia is more developed presently, Palestine now is still colonized by Israel. In the early of Indonesian independence, the 1945 Indonesian Constitution stated “The independence is the right of every nations, colonialism must be eliminated from the face of the earth as it is contrary to the declaration of human nature and justice.” (Anwar 2009). This statement becomes a fundamental reason of Indonesia to support Palestinians to have their independence soon.
Regarding to the statement of Minister of State in the United Kingdom (UK) Foreign and Commonwealth Office at www.beritasore.com (reported on Friday, February 11th 2009), Bill Rammel, said that Indonesia is playing an important role in the efforts to solve the conflict in the Gaza Strip between Palestine and Israel. Indonesia is a multicultural and multi-faith society where the majority respects the rights of the minority. Indonesia had a big influence on the world and its success in dealing with conflicts and authoritarianism.
Indonesia has a motto of Unity in Diversity that could be adopted by other countries in the the world to give the world a new concept in handling difficult conflict situations like that in Gaza Strip. The supports for Palestinians that come from Indonesian youth are very various. The Indonesian solidarity to the Palestinians victims would be formed by a simple attention such as a movement, struggles for Palestinian human rights, giving help of food, aid and social services to recover the situation and condition in Gaza after the conflict.
There are so many people taking care for this problems, there are so many people have done something to help Palestinians civil victims and refugees, there are so many people concern to this situation. Therefore, the real problem is what we have contributed to engage the peace between Palestinians and Israelis?
Young people are very potential to keep contribute to affect the world dealing their big efforts, ideas, courage and spirit. Being a youth, being a colleagues, being a student are not obstacles to make a little expect for the world peace. We have so many opportunities in our life, so manage it efficiently during the opportunity comes.
To be continued...
